Fireside Stories from Lake WhaddyathinkImean is a fresh, funny take on life in cottage country.               

Feisty, big-hearted, Maybelle Morton broadcasts her home-grown radio show from a hilltop cottage in Lake W where wild and wacky stories ensue with her friends:  Vilma Yuccch, Officer Stanley Penelope McBottom, Twindle Mumbly, Beanpole Starkman and Sybil Beaucannon-Hughes. Oh, and her pet bear, Bogart, who has a genius IQ, a mad crush on Lindsay Lohan, and knows all of George Carlin’s comedy routines.           

Honored by the National Community Radio Association (NCRA) for Programming Excellence, Fireside Stories from Lake WhaddyathinkImean, now into its 4th year on 100.9 Canoe FM — is written, directed, and produced by ACTRA award-winning writer, Jerelyn Craden; co-produced and engineered by Nick Bronson — and features the voices of:  Tim Nicholson, Caryl Miller, John Miller, Nick Bronson, and Jerelyn Craden.

The Column:  Maybelle’s Fireside Stories is the popular spin-off of the radio show published in the Haliburton Echo and Cottage Times.  It’s Maybelle unplugged sharing stories about all things “cottage life” plus everything else under the sun.

The eBook:  Maybelle’s Cure For What Ails You is a compilation of 21 of the Best of Maybelle’s Fireside Stories.  Full of laughs, heart-tugging moments, and insights about cottage life, friendship, the ukulele craze, holograms, aging, social media, fashion, broken hips, freezing pipes, living and dying, inukshuks and more.

“I thoroughly enjoyed all 21 stories in “Maybelle’s Cure For What Ails You”. What a pleasure to read. Maybelle is funny, feisty, and wise. The interplay with her friends in Lake WhaddyathinkImean was fun too. I also loved Jerelyn Craden’s novel, “Vessie Flamingo Outshining the Moon” when I read it a couple of years ago. I recommend it to my friends..a fun story with many laugh out loud moments. It was a happy discovery to come upon this new compilation of short stories that she penned as Maybelle Morton. On a side note, for me I also liked that it was short stories because sometimes when I’m busy, it’s fun to just read one or two. Great stories Ms. Craden, keep up the good work. RM, Penticton, BC
